What is the Abortion Pill?
Chemical abortion methods use drugs to kill the tiny embryo early in the pregnancy and to empty the contents of the uterus, much like a miscarriage. Women need to understand how chemical abortions work before committing to this life-altering choice.
Chemical abortions can be done only early in pregnancy, usually in the first seven weeks.
Two drug combinations can be used:
1) methotrexate and misoprostol, often called an M&M Abortion
2) mifepristone and misoprostol
Only the first drug combination is approved for sale in Canada.
